DataPhoenix is an AWS DevOps consultancy. The greatest efficiencies come from enabling your team to use infrastructure as code, automation patterns and CI/CD technologies.
Making your organisation more efficient, and achieving goals faster without compromising quality, is a perennial business challenge. Achieving it is a major source of competitive advantage: greater efficiency improves business agility, speeds time to market and frees capacity for other high-priority goals.
In recent years, IT delivery has been transformed by the Agile Manifesto and the approach of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
This helps to deliver projects faster and better, with more customer involvement and an incremental and structured approach that relies heavily on teamwork and honest feedback.
Adopting these approaches can require significant cultural change in some organisations but ultimately delivers better results and greater efficiency. It is how DataPhoenix delivers its own projects.
The greatest efficiencies go well beyond the implementation itself. The most important benefits come from what the work does for your business:
DataPhoenix creates value and drives efficiency for clients across the UK and Switzerland.
DataPhoenix delivers its projects using Agile methodologies and DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
We believe that adopting these approaches delivers better results and greater efficiency. That is why DataPhoenix uses them in its own projects, and the team are experienced advocates of Agile and DevOps.
DataPhoenix works with and coaches your people to embed this methodology and culture in your own team, driving greater efficiency long after the work ends. Beyond Agile, we assess your processes and technology to make sure you are maximising efficiency across the board. That can mean asking difficult questions about the way you work and the technology choices made, and we ask them.
We’ll look at the data lifecycle model and how it is enforced. For example, are old backups removed? Are infrequently accessed files moved to lower-cost storage such as Glacier? Are the development servers switched off overnight?
We’ll consider the tagging strategy and how it is implemented. For example, have responsibilities been clearly defined? How easily can you identify which service is the biggest generator of costs? What policies do you have in place to manage or mitigate cost?
We’ll consider the monitoring systems you have in place and how they have been set up. Do you know when a pipeline breaks before the end user notices? Do you have an efficient alerting strategy?
We can also help you assess your readiness for taking advantage of the latest technology: infrastructure as code (IAC), continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, serverless architectures and containerisation. And we’ll work alongside your team to architect and deploy these technologies or develop plans so you are ready for them.
This is, of course, all delivered through an Agile and DevOps approach, ensuring you gain the benefits quickly and efficiencies are realised sooner and in a predictable manner.
Security is part of delivery from the first commit
DataPhoenix delivers DevOps work with security in mind from the start. Security reviews left until after go-live find problems when they take longest to fix, so security moves into the pipeline: static code analysis, dependency and container scanning, policy as code and infrastructure checks run on every change.
On AWS that extends to the platform itself, with GuardDuty, Security Hub, AWS Config and Inspector for detection and compliance, and encryption, key management and tokenisation designed into the data layers. The same experience covers dedicated security engineering and DevSecOps work, so your security team inherits a platform with controls already in place.
Encryption follows the same principle: customer-managed keys, one per boundary so a key can be rotated, revoked or transferred without touching adjacent data, explicit key policies, TLS enforced at the storage and network layers, and short-lived credentials in pipelines.
Cost optimisation is part of how the platform runs
Platform engineering and DevOps work is where cloud cost is controlled. DataPhoenix reviews how workloads are sized, scheduled and stored, moves suitable work to managed and serverless services, and right-sizes environments that run all day without being needed all day.
Infrastructure as code and consistent tagging make spend visible by team and by workload, so savings are measured and stay in place. DataPhoenix has delivered substantial hosting savings for clients through migration to AWS and platform right-sizing.

DataPhoenix has practised DevOps since the discipline took shape. The tools have changed and the value has not. The team integrates with yours, improves how you work, provides a cohesive delivery function and builds the automation patterns that infrastructure as code makes possible.
DevOps work is tied to a business case, so you know what better delivery should return before you commit budget.
